Conditionals - Slovak Grammar

The Conditionals Theory in Slovak Grammar is an essential aspect that helps learners understand and use conditional sentences correctly. There are three main types of conditionals in Slovak: the zero conditional, the first conditional, and the second conditional.

The zero conditional is used to express general truths or facts. It is structured with “ak” (if) + present tense in both the condition and the result. For example, “Ak prší, je mokro.” (If it rains, it is wet.)

The first conditional is used to express real or possible situations in the future. It is structured with “ak” (if) + present tense in the condition and future tense in the result. For example, “Ak to spravíš, budem ti vďačný.” (If you do it, I will be grateful.)

The second conditional is used to express unreal or hypothetical situations in the present or future. It is structured with “keby” (if) + past tense in the condition and conditional mood in the result. For example, “Keby som bol bohatý, cestoval by som po svete.” (If I were rich, I would travel the world.)
