Exercise Language: Adjectives

Adjective exercises are an integral part of learning Swedish grammar. These exercises are designed to help learners understand and correctly use adjectives in sentences. Swedish adjectives must agree in gender, number, and definiteness with the nouns they describe.

In the adjective exercises, students practice modifying adjectives to match the gender of the noun (en/ett), whether it is common (en) or neuter (ett). They also learn the plural forms of adjectives. For example, the adjective “gammal” (old) would change to “gammalt” for an ett-word and “gamla” for plural words.

Another crucial part of the exercises involves indefinite and definite forms where adjectives subtly change in front of a definite noun. For instance, “stora hunden” translates as ‘the big dog,’ and “den stora hunden” means ‘that big dog.’
