Participles in Ukrainian grammar are verbs that function as adjectives to provide additional information about nouns. Ukrainian participles are derived from verbs and, like adjectives, agree with the noun they modify in gender, number, and case. There are two types of participles in Ukrainian: active and passive. Active participles describe an action being performed by the noun, while passive participles describe an action being performed upon the noun. Both types have present and past forms, which show tense by changing their endings.
