Boje – Colors
In Croatian, colors are known as “boje”. Just like in English, they are used to describe the hue of objects and can greatly enhance your descriptive language.
Nebesa su plava danas, što znači da će biti lijep dan. – The sky is blue today, which means it will be a nice day.
Crvena – Red
Crvena is a powerful color often associated with love, passion, and danger.
Jabuka na stolu je crvena. – The apple on the table is red.
Plava – Blue
Plava is a cool and calming color, commonly associated with the sky and the sea.
Moje plave oči ističu se u mom licu. – My blue eyes stand out on my face.
Zelena – Green
Zelena is the color of nature, representing growth, freshness, and fertility.
Trava je tako svijetlo zelena nakon kiše. – The grass is so bright green after the rain.
Žuta – Yellow

Oblici – Shapes
Knowing how to describe shapes, or “oblici”, is equally important for clear and effective communication.
Krug – Circle
A krug is a simple shape that is defined by a set of points that are all the same distance from the center.
Sat na zidu u obliku je kruga. – The clock on the wall is in the shape of a circle.
Kvadrat – Square
A kvadrat is a shape with four equal sides and four right angles.
Pločice u kuhinji su oblika kvadrata. – The tiles in the kitchen are square-shaped.
Pravokutnik – Rectangle
A pravokutnik is a shape with four sides where opposite sides are equal in length, and each corner is a right angle.
Stol u učionici je pravokutnik. – The table in the classroom is a rectangle.
Trokut – Triangle
A trokut is a three-sided polygon that can vary in side length and angles.
Znak upozorenja na putu ima oblik trokuta. – The warning sign on the road is shaped like a triangle.
Pravokutnik – Rectangle
Pravokutnik represents a four-sided figure with opposite sides being equal and angles of ninety degrees.
Vrata su obično u obliku pravokutnika. – Doors are usually in the shape of a rectangle.
