Tenses - Belarusian Grammar

The present tense is used to describe actions or events that are happening currently or are ongoing. It is formed by adding the corresponding verb endings to the stem of the verb.

The past tense is used to describe actions or events that have already occurred in the past. This tense is formed by adding the appropriate verb endings to the stem and also undergoes vowel changes in some cases.

The future tense is used to describe actions or events that will happen in the future. It is formed by adding the future marker “буду-” before the stem of the verb, followed by the appropriate verb endings.

It is important to note that tense is not the only factor that determines the timeframe of an action or event in Belarusian grammar. Additional elements such as adverbs, context, and verb aspect can also play a role in indicating the time frame. Nevertheless, understanding tenses is crucial for mastering the Belarusian language.
