Tense Comparison - Indonesian Grammar

Tense Comparison Theory (Teori Perbandingan Kata Kerja) is an essential concept in Indonesian grammar. It refers to the comparison of tenses and their usage in different contexts. In Indonesian, there are three main tenses: the present tense, past tense, and future tense.

The present tense (tense sekarang) is used to describe actions happening at the present time. It is formed by using the base form of a verb, for example, “saya makan” (I eat). The past tense (tense lampau) is used to describe actions that have already happened in the past. It is formed by adding the prefix “me-” or “di-” and the suffix “-i” or “-kan” to the base form of a verb, for example, “saya telah makan” (I have eaten). Finally, the future tense (tense akan datang) is used to describe actions that will happen in the future. It is formed by using the word “akan” before the base form of a verb, for example, “saya akan makan” (I will eat).
