Perfect Progressive - Urdu Grammar

The Perfect Progressive tense in Urdu grammar combines the aspects of the Perfect tense and the Progressive tense. It is used to express an action that started in the past, continued for a duration of time, and is still ongoing in the present.

To form the Perfect Progressive tense, we use the auxiliary verb “ہونا” (honā), which means “to be” in Urdu, and the present participle form of the main verb. We then add the past participle of the auxiliary verb “ہونا” to indicate completion of the action.

For example, to say “I have been reading”, we would use the phrase “میں پڑھ رہا ہوں” (main parh raha hōn), where “پڑھ رہا ہوں” (parh raha hōn) is the present participle form of the verb “پڑھنا” (parhnā) and “ہوں” (hōn) is the present participle of “ہونا” (honā).

The Perfect Progressive tense can also be used to talk about actions that have just finished or are about to finish in the near future.
