Perfect Progressive - Turkish Grammar

The Perfect Progressive tense in Turkish grammar is used to indicate an ongoing action that has been completed at a specific point in the past or will be completed at a specific point in the future. It is formed by combining the auxiliary verb “olmak” (to be), the verb “etmek” (to do), and the participle form of the main verb.

For example, if we want to say “I have been working”, we would use the construction “çalışıyor olmak” (to be working) and add the suffix “-miş” to the main verb “çalışmak” (to work). This would give us the sentence “çalışıyor olmuşum”.

The Perfect Progressive tense is often used to express actions that have been happening for a while and are still ongoing. For example, “I have been studying Turkish for 3 years” would be translated as “Türkçe çalışıyor olmuşum 3 yıl”.

It is important to note that the Perfect Progressive tense is relatively rare in Turkish and is mostly used in more formal writing or in specific contexts.
