Perfect Progressive - Marathi Grammar

The Perfect Progressive theory in Marathi grammar is used to express actions or events that were ongoing in the past and were still ongoing at a specific point or period of time. It combines aspects of both the perfect tense and the progressive tense.

To form the Perfect Progressive tense in Marathi, we use the auxiliary verb “आहे” (ahe) or “होते” (hote) along with the auxiliary verb “आहे” (ahe) or “होताचे” (hotache) and the present participle form of the main verb.

For example:

1. मला पुस्तक वाचत आहे. (Mala pustak vachat ahe) – I have been reading a book.
2. तो आणि तिचा मित्र क्रीडा करताना हसत होता. (To ani ticha mitra krida karatana hasat hota) – He and his friend were laughing while playing.

The Perfect Progressive theory in Marathi allows us to more accurately describe ongoing actions or events in the past, emphasizing their continuous nature.
