Articles - Marathi Grammar

In Marathi grammar, the Articles Theory plays a crucial role in determining the correct usage of articles, or visheshan, in the language. Marathi grammar recognizes two types of articles: definite articles (tana) and indefinite articles (kahi).

The definite article in Marathi is used to refer to a specific noun that is known or previously mentioned. It agrees with both gender and number of the noun it modifies. For example, “tana kutra” (the shirt) or “tani sundar mulgi” (the beautiful girl).

On the other hand, the indefinite article is used when we want to refer to a noun in a non-specific or general sense. It also agrees with both gender and number. For example, “kahi kutra” (a/any shirt) or “kahi mulga” (a/any boy).

While the usage of articles in Marathi grammar may seem similar to English grammar, there are certain differences in the rules and usage. It is important to understand the specific rules of article usage in Marathi to communicate effectively and accurately in the language.
