The Subjonctif or subjunctive in French is a mood, not a tense. It’s used to express doubt, possibility, necessity, or actions that have not yet occurred, among other things. It is somewhat unfavored in the spoken language, but is still common in writing, particularly formal writing.
Exercise 1: Fill in the blanks using the Subjonctif
1. Il faut que nous *(ayons)* un plan. (have)
2. Il faut que tu *(sois)* à l’heure pour le dîner. (be)
3. Il est possible qu’elle *(vienne)* demain. (come)
