Reflexive Pronouns in Urdu grammar, or اپنے ضمیر, are used when the subject and the object of a sentence are the same person or thing. They signal that the subject of the sentence is performing an action on or for itself. In Urdu, the reflexive pronoun ‘apna’ is commonly used regardless of the gender, number and person of the pronoun it refers to. Although simple in concept, reflexive pronouns can be challenging for language learners to use correctly, as their use often requires a strong understanding of the sentence’s context.
