In Vietnamese grammar, the concept of gender of nouns is not as rigid as in some other languages like English, French or Spanish. There are no specific masculine or feminine forms for most nouns. The gender is usually inferred from the context. However, there are certain words to denote gender such as “con trai” for son or boy, “con gรกi” for daughter or girl, “รดng” for an older man, “bร ” for an older woman etc. The pronouns “anh”, “chแป”, “em”, and “tรดi” could mean he, she, or I depending on the context.
