Adverbs of place, or tāwāhi, in the Maori language are typically used to describe the position or location of an entity. These can be used to express where something currently is, where it was in the past or where it will be in the future. As in English but unlike some languages, adverbs of place in Maori can be used before or after the verb they modify, depending on emphasis.
