The Perfect Progressive Theory in Azerbaijani Grammar refers to the combination of two aspects: the perfect aspect and the progressive aspect. The perfect aspect is used to show that an action has been completed or finished at the current moment or a specified time in the past. The perfect aspect is formed by combining the auxiliary verb “olmaq” (to be) in the present tense or past tense with the past participle of the main verb.
The progressive aspect, on the other hand, is used to show that an action is ongoing or in progress at the current moment. The progressive aspect is formed by combining the auxiliary verb “olmaq” in the present tense with the gerund form of the main verb.
When these two aspects are combined, it creates the Perfect Progressive aspect, which shows that an action has been ongoing and is still ongoing at the current moment. For example, “Mən öz tədqiqatımı edirəm” (I have been conducting my research) combines the perfect aspect (I have conducted) and the progressive aspect (I am conducting). This combination emphasizes the duration and continuity of the action.
