Language: Articles

Articles play a significant role in the Hindi language. In Hindi grammar, we have two types of articles: definite articles and indefinite articles.

The definite article is called “เคตเคฟเคถเฅ‡เคทเคฃ เคฒเคฟเค‚เค—” (visheshan ling) in Hindi. It is used before masculine singular nouns and is equivalent to the English article “the.” For example, “เคถเฅ‡เคฐ” (sher) means “lion,” but “เคตเคฟเคถเฅ‡เคทเคฃ เคฒเคฟเค‚เค— เคถเฅ‡เคฐ” (visheshan ling sher) means “the lion.”

On the other hand, the indefinite article is called “เค…เคชเคตเคพเคฆ เคฒเคฟเค‚เค—” (apavad ling) in Hindi. It is used before masculine singular nouns and is equivalent to the English articles “a” or “an.” For example, “เคถเฅ‡เคฐ” (sher) means “lion,” but “เค…เคชเคตเคพเคฆ เคฒเคฟเค‚เค— เคถเฅ‡เคฐ” (apavad ling sher) means “a lion.”

It is important to note that Hindi does not have articles to indicate the gender of nouns. Therefore, the same article is used for both masculine and feminine nouns. The gender of the noun is determined by the word itself or the context in which it is used.

Understanding the usage of articles is crucial for constructing grammatically correct sentences in Hindi. By mastering the rules of articles, learners can enhance their communication skills and express themselves accurately in the Hindi language.
