In Hindi grammar, adjective theory plays a significant role in understanding how adjectives function in a sentence. Adjectives are words that modify or describe nouns or pronouns. They provide information about the qualities, characteristics, or features of the noun they are associated with.

In Hindi, adjectives are called “visheshan”. They agree with the gender, number, and case of the noun they qualify. The gender agreement is particularly important, as adjectives change their form to match the gender of the noun. For example, if the noun is masculine, the adjective will also be in its masculine form.

Adjectives in Hindi can also function as attributive or predicative. When used attributively, adjectives directly modify the noun they are associated with. Whereas, when used predicatively, they come after the verb “hona” (to be) and modify the subject of the sentence.

Furthermore, Hindi adjectives can be divided into two categories: qualitative adjectives and quantitative adjectives. Qualitative adjectives describe the quality or nature of the noun, while quantitative adjectives indicate the quantity or number associated with the noun.

Understanding adjective theory in Hindi grammar is essential for effectively using adjectives in sentence construction and conveying accurate meaning in a sentence.
