In Maori grammar, stative verbs are a key component. Unlike active verbs which show action, stative verbs describe states of being, emotion, possession, personal characteristics and physical sensations. These verbs convey an awareness, description or comprehension of a state. Stative verbs are often used in conjunction with nouns, pronouns and adjectives.
