Past Perfect Progressive Exercises For Persian Grammar

Master language speaking through grammar activities

The Past Perfect Progressive, also referred to as the Past Perfect Continuous, in the Persian language refers to an action that had been ongoing until a certain point in the past. It is typically used to emphasize the duration of an action up to another event or action in the past. As with other Persian conjugations, the tense is constructed by modifying the verb form. The construction involves using the past participle, a helper verb, and adding the suffix ‘ه بودم’, ‘ه بودی’, ‘ه بود’, ‘ه بودیم’, ‘ه بودید’, ‘ه بودند’ (had been doing) depending on the subject. This tense carries a similar meaning to its equivalent in English, conveying a sense of an action that has been in progress for some duration of time until it has subsequently stopped or interrupted by another event in the past.
