Modal Verbs in the Slovak grammar serve the function to express necessity, possibility, purpose, and more. Very often, they are used together with another verb in the infinitive form. Some of these verbs include ‘môcť’ (can), ‘musieť’ (must), ‘mať’ (have to), ‘chcieť’ (want to), ‘vedieť’ (know how to), ‘smieť’ (be allowed to). Gaining mastery in these verbs will significantly enhance the fluency level of a student studying Slovak language.
