The First Conditional, also known as the Real Conditional in Thai grammar, is a structure used for talking about possibilities in the present or future. The construction of the First Conditional consists of two parts – the ‘if’ clause and a ‘will’ or ‘can’ clause. This represents the dependency of the outcome based on a condition.
Exercise 1: Fill the blanks with correct form of verb given in bracket
1. ถ้าฉัน *มี* (have) เงิน ฉันจะไปเที่ยวทะเล (If I money, I’ll go to the seaside.)
2. ถ้าเธอ *เรียนรู้* (learn) ไทย, คุณจะสามารถสื่อสารกับประชากรไทย (If you Thai, you will be able to communicate with Thai people.)
3. ถ้าเรา *ได้รับ* (get) หนังสือ, เราจะอ่านมัน (If we a book, we will read it.)
4. ถ้าอากาศ *ดี* (good), เราจะไปปิกนิก (If the weather good, we will go for a picnic.)
5. ถ้าฉัน *อยู่* (be) ที่บ้าน, ฉันจะรับโทรศัพท์ (If I home, I’ll answer the phone.)
Exercise 2: Complete the sentences with appropriate words
1. ถ้าฉัน *เห็น* (see) เขา, ฉันจะเล่าให้เขารู้ (If I him, I will tell him.)
2. ถ้าคุณ *พูด* (speak) อย่างช้า, เราจะเข้าใจ (If you slowly, we can understand.)
3. ถ้าฉัน *ไม่มี* (don’t have) งาน, ฉันจะไปสวนสนุก (If I work, I’ll go to the amusement park.)
4. ถ้าเรา *ทำ* (do) ให้ดี, เราจะได้รับของรางวัล (If we well, we will get a reward.)
