Compound Sentences in Marathi grammar, also known as “samaas Vakya”, contain two or more independent clauses that are joined by conjunctive words. Each individual clause in a compound sentence is sound enough to stand on its own as a sentence which expresses an independent thought or idea. In Marathi, the common conjunctive words or phrases that join the sentences are आणि (and), किंवा (or), पण (but), म्हणून(therefore), etc. Marathi grammar synthesizes these clauses in a way that their meaning, when combined, is enhanced or clarified.
