In the Malay language, Demonstrative Pronouns, which include Ini (this), Itu (that), Ini…itu (this…that), Tersebut (aforementioned) and Tadi (earlier), play an essential role. Unlike English, these demonstrative pronouns are not affected by gender, but they can indicate distance. They aid in distinguishing items closer to the speaker (ini) or farther from the speaker (itu), and also to refer to something mentioned earlier (tadi or tersebut).
