يُعد فهم الفرق بين زمني المضارع البسيط والمضارع التام المستمر خطوة مهمة في تعلم اللغة الإنجليزية. يستخدم المضارع البسيط للتعبير عن الحقائق العامة، العادات، والروتين اليومي. في حين يُستخدم المضارع التام المستمر للدلالة على أفعال بدأت في الماضي ولا تزال مستمرة حتى الآن أو للتأكيد على استمرارية الفعل.
