Nom collectif Exercices de grammaire anglaise

Les noms indénombrables en anglais (uncountable nouns) désignent des choses qui ne peuvent pas être comptées unité par unité : liquides, aliments, matériaux, abstractions, etc. (ex: water, bread, information, advice, money…). On les utilise toujours au singulier et avec des quantifieurs adaptés (some, much, a little, any…) mais jamais avec “a/an”. Ces exercices vous permettront de les distinguer et de pratiquer leur emploi correct.

8. I need a piece of *advice*. (Indice : on donne “un conseil”, on dit “a piece of advice” et jamais “an advice”)
9. There is much *traffic* in the city center. (Indice : notion abstraite liée à la circulation)
10. She didn’t get any *news* from him. (Indice : informations récentes, mot indénombrable toujours au singulier)

Exercice 2 : Choisissez le quantifieur ou l’expression correcte pour le nom indénombrable

1. There isn’t *much* flour left. (Indice : farine, quantité indénombrable, “much”)
2. Please give me *some* milk. (Indice : politesse et quantité indéfinie, indénombrable, “some”)
3. I don’t need *any* help right now. (Indice : négation ou question, “any” pour indénombrable)
4. Is there *any* coffee in the cup? (Indice : question, indénombrable, “any”)
5. We have *a little* time before the meeting. (Indice : petite quantité, notion abstraite, “a little”)
6. You need *some* patience to learn a new language. (Indice : politesse ou conseil, “some” pour indénombrable)
7. She has *no* bread left. (Indice : absence totale, “no” pour l’indénombrable)
8. Could I have *some* rice, please? (Indice : demande polie, indénombrable)

9. I would like *a piece of* advice. (Indice : exprime un conseil, unité pour indénombrable)
