تعتبر الأزمنة الماضية في اللغة الإنجليزية من أهم القواعد التي يجب على الطلاب إتقانها لتحسين مهاراتهم في بناء الجمل وتصريف الأفعال. هناك عدة أشكال للزمن الماضي في الإنجليزية، مثل الماضي البسيط، الماضي المستمر، الماضي التام، والماضي التام المستمر، وكل منها له استخداماته المحددة التي تعبر عن فعل حدث وانتهى في الماضي أو عن حدث كان مستمرًا أو اكتمل قبل حدث آخر في الماضي.
