الماضي البسيط والماضي المستمر من الأزمنة الأساسية في اللغة الإنجليزية، حيث يستخدم الماضي البسيط للتعبير عن الأحداث التي حدثت وانتهت في الماضي، بينما يستخدم الماضي المستمر لوصف الأحداث التي كانت مستمرة في لحظة معينة في الماضي. فهم الفرق بينهما مهم للغاية لكل من يرغب في تعلّم اللغة الإنجليزية. قد يبدو ذلك صعباً في البداية، لكن مع الممارسة يمكن إتقان استخدام هذين الزمنين بشكل صحيح.
