The Past Progressive tense in Kazakh grammar, also known as the past continuous tense, expresses an action or situation that was ongoing, incomplete and in progress in the past. It is commonly used to describe an interrupted action or event, or to indicate that an action was happening at a certain time. In Kazakh, you typically form the past progressive tense by using the past tense of the verb “to be” followed by a verb with the -п and -птал endings.

Exercise 1: Fill in the blanks with the correct form of the verb to express the Past Progressive tense.
