यह अभ्यास अंग्रेजी भाषा के व्याकरण के दो महत्वपूर्ण काल की अवधारणा पर आधारित है – Simple Past और Past Perfect. Simple Past का इस्तेमाल हम किसी भी कार्य को बीते हुए समय में पूर्ण हो चुकने का वर्णन करने के लिए करते हैं। Past Perfect का प्रयोग हम उस समय के लिए करते हैं जब एक क्रिया दूसरी क्रिया से पहले पूरी हो चुकी हो। इस अभ्यास के माध्यम से सीखनेवाले छात्र इन दोनों कालों के बीच के अंतर को समझ सकते हैं और अपने अंग्रेजी के ज्ञान को और भी मजबूत कर सकते हैं।
